Tangaliya is a 700 year old weaving tradition practiced by the Dangasiya community from the Saurashtra region of Gujarat.
The weaver twists extra contrasting and colored weft yarns into the warp during the weaving process.
This creates tiny, embossed, bead-like raised dots that appear clearly on both sides of the fabric.
These dots are called ‘daana’ and they give a beautiful, tactile, beaded effect that looks like embroidery but is woven straight into the fabric.
Our Tangaliya weaver uses pure cotton yarn to create suits and blouse pieces.
Please allow some colour differences which might be due phone/ camera/ screen settings. All the pictures have been taken in natural light.
